Eternity

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity’s sun rise.

Ewigkeit

Wer sich an die Lust selbst band,
Lebens Flügel lahm bald fand;
Doch wer küsste sie im Flug,

Den sie hin zur Sonne trug.
